Been browsing around at natural products lately? Interested in converting to a natural toothpaste that focuses on organic ingredients and chemicals? Well, the Kiss My Face toothpaste might be something worth looking into. But is it? Oh man, you don’t know yet do you? It could be horrible, but it could be amazing.
What is it?!?
Welp, we’ve got the review right here for ya. Take a look!
The Do’s And Don’ts
If you’re looking towards natural options for a toothpaste then you’re probably pretty interested in what this stuff has and what it doesn’t have. That’s the idea, right?
We throw the term “natural” around so much these days but it’s totally come back to bite us in the butt before.
So, what does Kiss My Face toothpaste have inside of it? What’s crawling around underneath the skin? Here’s the basic list of what it’s got:
- Aloe Vera
- Silica (natural whitener)
- CO-Q10 (for healthy gums)
- Peppermint (natural flavor)
- Horse chestnut (fur gum health)
- Tea tree oil (cleansing and antiseptic)
- Menthol (natural flavor)
But wait, there’s more! Actually, there isn’t, and that’s a good thing. In addition to the list of ingredients Kiss My Face has, it’s got a pretty extensive list of things that it doesn’t have inside. That list is:
- Sodium Lauryl Sulfate
- Artificial flavors/colors
- Animal testing
The big one for us is the cruelty-free, no animal testing part. But everyone is looking for something different. The big three there are the lack of carrageenan, fluoride and SLS – if you’re trying to pick a toothpaste that avoids those components then this product will do you well.
Also, one important note is that this toothpaste is not gluten-free. If you’re looking for a gluten-free option, this one won’t do it for ya.
So, how does it hold up in the day-to-day? Not too bad. You’ll find that Kiss My Face toothpaste will come in a standard “push from the end” tube like everything else. It’s got a protective seal that you’ll remove when you first open it up so you know nobody has tampered with it.
The taste wasn’t too bad. It won’t be a sweet or “tasty” as some of the other products out there, but that’s because it doesn’t use artificial sweeteners to make it taste better. We quite like the natural taste of products like this, but it won’t be a huge explosion of flavor in your mouth, so be warned!
The texture (as we talk about below) is a bit slippery, but otherwise doesn’t feel too odd when you’re brushing. It foams up just like any other toothpaste.
A nice bonus is that you won’t have nearly as many issues with taste after you’re done brushing. If like go right from brushing your teeth to eating breakfast or drinking coffee, you won’t have to deal with that “eeeuuuck” taste, which is pretty sweet (literally!).
The effects were pretty decent – your mouth will feel really clean afterwards and it kept on pace with keeping our teeth clean and our gums healthy. On that note, a number of users have said that they saw particulary excellent effects on their gum health from using Kiss My Face toothpaste for several weeks. We didn’t experience this specifically, but if you’re having gum issues and are looking to improve their health, this might be a good product to look towards.
There is no perfect product, and Kiss My Face toothpaste doesn’t break that streak. That being said, there’s really not a whole lot of big downsides to this toothpaste. We found the texture to be a bit irritating – it’s pretty darn slippery. You’ll get used to it, but it will get a bit annoying when you’re trying to get that perfect little dab on your toothbrush.
The other downside-ish thing is the slightly elevated price. At the end of the day, having “natural” in the description will often times do that to a product. You’re paying for the specific inclusion of less common ingredients and that’s often times a bit more expensive. Either way, if price is a major factor to you, you’ll definitely find cheaper products out there on the market.
Kiss My Face Toothpaste Wrap Up
No Fluoride, no SLS, no carrageenan, cruelty free, tastes decent, protects teeth… yup. That just about wraps it up. We always want to make some extreme statement in the wrap up section but with Kiss My Face toothpaste it really comes down to a product that does what it says it does. If you’re willing to pay a tad bit more for a natural toothpaste and you’ve talked with your dentist about avoiding certain chemicals, you’re good to go.
