It’s done. Over. In the past. Crest is no longer using those cursed “micro-beads” in their toothpaste. We may now rejoice as angles sing hymns down upon us from the high heavens.
If you’re not sure what’s going on, about two years back there was a bit of a stir-up over Crest (among others) using these small plastic “micro-beads” in their product.
As much as everyone likes to hate on huge corporations, the idea came from a good place. The small micro-beads worked as an abrasive to wear away the plaque and stains on your teeth. Either way, nobody was happy about it.
As a result, Crest announced that they were going to phase out their use of these “micro-beads” by March 2016. Well, it’s done, so we can finally write our Crest 3D White Toothpaste review without having to deal with this crazy controversy!
Let’s Set Some Goals
What can Crest 3D White Toothpaste do for you? Well according to their product description it’ll help you “glamorize your smile daily”. As much as I hate that catch-phrase, it gets at the basics. Crest 3D White Toothpaste will do some serious work towards getting you a whiter smile along with doing the basics to protect it.
Crest 3D White Toothpaste is a fluoride based toothpaste that uses polishing silica to whiten your teeth and remove stains. Their claim-to-fame says that they Crest 3D White Toothpaste can make your teeth whiter in two days.
So… Does It Work?
It’s pretty audacious to claim that you can whiten someone’s teeth in two days without thousands of dollars of dental equipment. That being said, Crest 3D White Toothpaste does whiten your teeth in a short period of time.
While you might notice some whitening after two days, it’ll take a full week or two before you start to get pretty excited about your smile. There’s nothing wrong with that at all, just don’t expect to have a George Clooney smile within two days of using this product.
The Boring Stuff
Aside from the whitening, the Crest 3D White Toothpaste is otherwise a completely normal brushing experience. The texture is standard, the flavoring (mint, of course) is standard, the foaming is standard. It’s all what you’d expect to get out of a normal off-the-shelf toothpaste.
And that’s not bad either.
I don’t need any crazy toothpaste to get my day going. I just need something that I know works.
Aside from the micro-beads there’s another complaint that I’ve heard pop up a few times. Sensitivity. I personally have pretty sensitive teeth and I’ve not had any problems with this product. Additionally, I’ve been using it for some time and my sensitivity hasn’t gotten any worse.
We can’t personally comment much further on the issue of sensitivity after using the Crest 3D White Toothpaste. If you’re worried about the concerns some have had about developing sensitivity, we encourage you to start using the 3D White toothpaste two or three times a week to start off with. Giving your teeth some time to adjust will help you better understand how this product will affect you.
Crest 3D White Toothpaste
While I don’t necessarily feel that my smile has been “glamorized” I do feel that the Crest 3D White Toothpaste has been pretty effective whitening my teeth. The experience was enjoyable, the results were satisfying and I didn’t get any plastic stuck in my teeth. Overall, not bad. If you’re looking to pick up a whitening toothpaste we really do recommend the Crest 3D White Toothpaste. We think you’ll like it.
