About eight months ago I was honest with myself. My teeth were yellow.
It wasn’t anything crazy like they were rotting or falling out or black, but they weren’t exactly movie star quality either. I decided I was going to look into some whitening toothpaste and finally decided to go with Arm and Hammer Toothpaste. I went with their AdvanceWhite brand with the hopes that after a few months of regular application I could get myself out of this gross yellow teeth hole I had dug.
There’s nothing fancy here – Arm and Hammer doesn’t pull any punches. You’ve got fluoride for cavity protection teamed up with baking soda and peroxide for stain fighting. Everything else is to keep it all together.
Nothing crazy – just stuff everybody knows works.
The first thing you’ll notice when you start using this Arm and Hammer toothpaste is the taste. It’s like… pure baking soda. Okay, not really but good lord does it taste unique. The taste of baking soda is very noticeable. It also is a tad bit gritty and has a thicker texture to it.
It’s not your standard been-around-the-block mint flavor, that’s for sure.
The hard part about describing taste is everybody is so different. For me personally, after using the AdvanceWhite Arm and Hammer toothpaste for about four or five brushings it really started to grow on me.
At first I thought it was pretty intense, but after a while I started to understand why I liked it. After brushing, your mouth doesn’t feel clean afterwards because it “smells of freshly picked mint” or anything like that. Your mouth feels clean because the toothpaste you used actually cleaned it. There’s something refreshing about a toothpaste that tastes like an authentic cleaning agent. It doesn’t taste “happy”, it tastes “powerful”.
Maybe I’m just a bit weird.
Anyhow I really think if you give the AdvanceWhite Arm and Hammer toothpaste a try it will really grow on you after a week. Just beware going in that it’s not your typical mint flavor.
So does it actually whiten? Yes, it actually does. I’ve been using this steadily for about ten months and my teeth are noticeably whiter now than they were.
The key here is to keep your expectations in check. Using AdvanceWhite Arm and Hammer toothpaste (or any other whitening toothpaste) for three days won’t make your teeth whiter, despite what you hear. You can’t expect immediate or drastic results. It’ll be a few weeks before you notice really exciting results.
Regularly making this toothpaste a part of your daily oral health upkeep will pay of well in the long run though. You’ll see your teeth get noticeably whiter (and stay that way) after a few weeks of consistent use.
Make sure you take those before and after photos so you can see the results easily!
Aside from whitening, AdvanceWhite Arm and Hammer toothpaste has done a fantastic job of keep my teeth clean and protected. The last time I went into the dentist she was absolutely thrilled at how well kept up my teeth were. She was a happy dentist (they exist, I promise)!
No cavities, no tooth decay, nothing. It was probably the first time I’d been to a dentist and heard that. Pretty cool!
AdvanceWhite Arm and Hammer Toothpaste
